Museum Policies

Revolutionary Spaces strives to create a welcoming, safe, and respectful environment for all visitors. While enjoying your trip to the Old State House and Old South Meeting House, we ask that you observe the following policies to ensure all guests have a pleasant experience.

Life At Se

Masks and Proof of Vaccination
Masks and proof of vaccination are not currently required for admission to our sites. Masks are encouraged, particularly for those who are high risk or unvaccinated. Please be respectful of those who choose to wear a face covering.

Bag Check
For the safety and security of our collections, luggage, backpacks, and bags larger than 10” x 10” x 6” must be checked at the Old State House. Exceptions are available for medically- and accessibility-required equipment. Bags allowed in the Old State House galleries must be carried as a handbag. There is no bag check requirement at Old South Meeting House.

Strollers and Scooters
Strollers and mobility scooters are not allowed in the galleries and must be checked at the Old State House. There is no stroller or mobility scooter check requirement at the Old South Meeting House.

Food and Drink
No food or drink, with the exception of water, is allowed in the galleries at the Old State House or Old South Meeting House.

Photography and Videography
Personal photography and video recording are allowed in both of our sites. The use of flash photography, commercial photography or video recording, tripods, or any other equipment that may be disruptive to visitors or staff interpretation are not permitted in either of our sites without written permission. Service Animals and Pets
Service animals are allowed in the galleries at the Old State House and Old South Meeting House. 

Smoking and Vaping
Smoking, vaping, and electronic cigarettes are not allowed inside either of our sites.

Weapons
Real or prop firearms, weapons, and other dangerous or hazardous devices or substances are prohibited at both sites unless the person carrying them has received permission from Revolutionary Spaces staff or represents law enforcement with proper jurisdiction.

Restrooms
Restrooms are available for museum ticket holders only. At the Old State House, they are located down the spiral staircase in the bottom rotunda. At the Old South Meeting House, they are located on the lower level, which is accessible by stairs or elevator. The closest public bathrooms are located at Faneuil Hall. 

Changing Tables
Changing tables are available in the restrooms at the Old South Meeting House for museum ticket holders only. There are no changing tables at the Old State House.
