Vengeance or Justice Boston Massacre

Two hundred and fifty-five years ago, on March 5, 1770, British soldiers opened fire on a crowd at King Street in Boston. Three men lay dead and many more were wounded. Was it a plot to commit murder or self-defense? Should the people of Boston extract vengeance against the soldiers or call for law and order above all else?

Have your voice be heard in a Town Meeting debate and help decide: vengeance or justice?

Join Revolutionary Spaces and National Parks of Boston at Old South Meeting House on March 5th, as we recreate this historic meeting. Doors open at 5:15 PM and the program begins at 5:30 PM, running for approximately 30 minutes to 45 minutes. Pre-register now for this free event and join us in commemorating the event that sparked a revolution.

This March, join Revolutionary Spaces as we recognize the 250th anniversary of Dr. Joseph Warren's dramatic Boston Massacre Memorial Speech delivered at the Old South Meeting House. Learn about Warren's life and contributions to the patriot cause, including his work as a physician, his famous 1775 address at Old South Meeting House, and his tragic death at the Battle of Bunker Hill. Dress in a toga, as Warren did, and take a photo in front of our pulpit! Plan your next visit!

COMING SOON: Dr. Joseph Warren’s Medical Journal
On display for a limited time this March at Old South Meeting House is a page from Dr. Joseph Warren's medical journal detailing his treatment of Boston Massacre victim Christopher Monk. Severely disabled as a result of the wound he sustained on March 5, 1770, Monk died as a result of his injuries ten years later, on April 20, 1780.  Known locally as the "Sixth Massacre Victim," Monk was under Dr. Warren's care from the night of the Massacre until Warren's own death in combat at the Battle of Bunker Hill, June 17, 1775. This object will be available for public viewing thanks to the generosity of Christian Di Spigna, historian, author, and Chair of the Dr. Joseph Warren Foundation. Get tickets now to visit the Old South Meeting House!
