Join Revolutionary Spaces at the Old South Meeting House as the U.S. Postal Service honors Phillis Wheatley (circa 1753-1784) with the 49th stamp in their Black Heritage Series.
Wheatley was the first author of African descent to publish a book of poetry in the American Colonies and an Old South Meeting House congregant. It was here that she was baptized, found community, and developed a profound spiritual connection—making this an especially meaningful place to honor her life and legacy.
This first-day-of-issue event for the Phillis Wheatley Black Heritage stamp is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 10:00 AM and the program will begin at 11:00 AM. Click here to register through the USPS’s website.
